Rest In Peace, Amanat.. India's Wake-Up Call..?!

'At the stroke of the midnight hour, when the world sleeps, India will awake to life and freedom.'

A passionate patriot, I have always been very proud of my culture, my heritage and my roots and used to feel unlimited amounts of chest-swelling pride, when I listened to pieces like, Jawaharlal Nehru's 'Tryst With Destiny'. However, tonight, as I type away, I question his words; did India really awake to life and freedom; is this truly a statement that applies to one and all...?

Tonight, not only a nation, but the whole world, morns the death of the beautiful soul Amanat, (Damani), who very sadly passed away, after fighting for her life, against the injures of being brutally attacked, assaulted and gang-raped by six males, in a moving bus, in South Dehli.

I prayed and pleaded for this poor young girl to somehow pull through this nightmare and live, and I am sure, like millions of others, people around the globe spared a thought or prayer for her. I am also confident that 99% of these people did not know Amanat personally or any of her family. Yet, the humanity in one would have been very disturbed by this.

What does not shock me, is that this is not an unknown issue in India, but a common issue with just different angles, in each case. In fact, even as Amanat lay fighting for life, in Safdarjung Hospital, a 15 year old teenage girl, was checked in along the same corridor, having been blinded in one eye, leaving her disfigured, as the result of four monsters attacking her with acid, some three months back. How many people know her name, know her story, know if she is even alive now..?

Something that has really shocked me though, is the amount of people that, through the powers of social networking, have said how the men who committed this dreadful crime, should be hung! I really, really, really cannot digest this! What will that achieve? Will that really be the end of the problem, I think not! It may temporary create a buzz and a slight, and I mean a slight, fear in people stomachs and perhaps for a short while, may make some stop and think, before doing something, but not for long - I am confident that within weeks, we shall be reading another rape story. The answer to this is a simple, but long-term one; education! And as with anything where a group of people need to be re/educated, it will not happen overnight and will take time, persistence and enforcement. Dehli did not become like this overnight and it will not change overnight.

Something that was brought to my attention, by a great friend and fellow writer, Amrita, was that people have had passed comments that this is/was down to the way the girls dress - are you serious?! What age are people living in?! Let me put it in simple terms, if a girl is wearing 'revealing/provoking' clothes and gets raped, it is her fault; what if she is wearing a saree and gets raped? Still her fault..? So if a guy is wearing shorts, it is alright for him to attacked and raped, as there is very little difference between shorts and skirts? These thoughts really do infuriate me and make my blood boil! Why can people not take responsibility for their own actions! What is the point taking two steps forwards, to then leap ten steps back with thoughts like this!

I share with you all a piece, from my talented friend Amrita's blog, on her thoughts on this tragedy, as I think she has hit the nail on the head, with this paragraph:

''Amanat’s case has served – so far – to highlight the many wrongs in Delhi society. Whilst it would be unfair to say that Indian society was the same throughout, it is equally important to understand that Amanat is just one in many. Since her tragic story emerged, I have spotted so many news stories tweeted by just NDTV alone about rapes of infants, deaths of infants who have been raped, suicides of rape victims, etc. Let’s not make Amanat’s case where we let our vision stop.''

It has just been released that Dehli Police will now invoke charges of murder against the six, who were involved in this brutal crime, as Amanat passed away, earlier on this evening. Senior officials stated that they were awaiting the official reports from the hospital and the moment they receive the paperwork, they shall be issuing murder charges. The six were initially booked under Sec 307 (attempt to murder), 201 (destruction of evidence), 365 (kidnapping/abducting) 376 (2), (G), (gang rape), 377 (unnatural offences), 394 (hurting in committing robbery) and 34 (common intention) of the Indian Penal Code. Police sources also said they are planning to file the charge sheet in a court, early next week.  The police have now released the following information:

''The arrested persons are driver Ram Singh, his brother Mukesh, Akshay Thakur, Pavan and Vinay. The sixth person apprehended claimed that he is a minor and police have sought the court’s permission to get a bone check to ascertain his age.''

Again, I raise my argument and point that, what will issuing capital punishment achieve. The bigger picture needs to be addressed and analysed. Only then will something really prevail. This is the time for people to unite and give meaning to the 'power of the public...'

One request to all, is please maintain your own peace, this is a fight against attacks, rape and acts of violence against females; reacting with violence just defeats the purpose. It is time to really wake up, educate the society and make a stand. No country is perfect and such acts take place all around the world, not just in India, but if this generation does not take action now, the future looks very bleak...

I am sure it will come as no shock when I say, that this story does sicken me to the very core of my soul! I truly do pray Amanat finds eternal peace and may God Almighty give her family and friends the strength they need during this tough and testing period.

I seriously now just pray and hope that as this beautiful Angel sleeps, the law, the officials and the justice systems awakens!

Rest In Peace Amanat (Damini).

*Don’t let your victories go to your head, or your failures go to your heart.

*Once they stop talking to you, they start talking about you.

*I hate math, but I love counting money

*Leave your excuses and live your dreams!

*Its hard to wait for something you know won't happen but its harder to give up when its everything you ever wanted.

*You never know how strong you are, until being strong is the only choice you have.

*The happiest people don't have the best of everything, they just make the best of everything they have.

*No matter how carefully you choose your words, they'll always end up twisted by others

I wish my brain had a map to tell me where my heart should go

*Find someone who will change your life, not just your relationship status.

*In life you will meet two kinds of people. Ones who build you up and one who tears you down but in the end, you will thank them both.

*Life is short, live it. Love is rare, grab it. Anger is bad, dump it. Fear is awful, face it. Memories are sweet, cherish them.

Residential RadioWalli Presents...Wednesday Wisdom...

A big hey-hi-hello to all my followers, listeners’ and friends... Hope you are all enjoying the show of Residential RadioWalli.

So here it is folks... Remember these are all the Wednesday Wisdom shared by the listeners, so please remember to respect everyone’s thoughts.

* Sometimes.. two people have to fall apart to realize how much they need to fall back together.

*I rather have an honest enemy than a fake friend.

*Face your problems instead of publishing them on social networking sites.

*The worst way to miss someone is to be sitting right beside them knowing nothing will ever be the same.

*Real love is knowing someone's weaknesses and not taking advantage of them. Knowing their flaws and accepting who they are.

*A good life is when you assume nothing, do more, need less, smile often, dream big, laugh a lot & realize how blessed you are.

*God has perfect timing, never early, never late. It takes a little patience and faith, but it's worth the wait.

*Don't let your pride get in the way of what your heart is trying to say.

*Karma handles revenge better than humans would.

*Realize who you are & who you're not, stay true to you.

*Nobody is a mind reader, so don't expect someone to know how you feel without you saying it.

*Never change for someone. If they can't accept you for who you are at your worst, they don't deserve to see you at your best.

*Never tell "friends" too much, not everybody has good intentions.

*Good times become good memories, bad times become good lessons.

*Forget what you want, and remember what you deserve.

*Work at it, work on it, work through it, work to it, as long as it's worth it never walk away from it.

Hope you enjoy these as much as I did... Till next week...

So here it is folks... Remember these are all the Wednesday Wisdom shared by the listeners, so please remember to respect everyone’s thoughts.

*Distance does not ruin people's relationship. You don't have to see someone everyday to be in love.

*Relationships never work when the other person uses social networks as a way to vent instead of addressing you.

*If you judge a book by it's cover.. you might miss out on an amazing story.

*Saying "Let's just be friends" is just like saying "Let's ignore each other and not to talk anymore.

*Haters don't really hate you. They hate themselves because you're a reflection of what they wish to be.

*Nothing worth having comes too easy.

*Do NOT lower your standards to "keep" anyone.. Make them meet you at YOUR level. Self respect is power.

*The truth doesn't cost anything.. but lies will cost you EVERYTHING.

*Guys are super attractive when they get protective.

*Be careful with words.. because once they are said, they can only be forgiven... not forgotten.

*When your mind says give up.. hope whispers one more try.

*Your beliefs don't make you a better person, your behaviors does.

*Relationships last longer when Facebook doesn't know about it.

*The best makeup is a smile. The best jewellery is modesty. The best clothing is confidence.

*First dates are awkward. First kisses are heavenly. First love is irreplaceable. And first heart break is unforgettable.

*They'll hate you if you're pretty, they'll hate you if you're not. They'll hate you for what you lack, they'll hate you for what you got.

*Most of the problems in life are because of two reasons; we act without thinking or we keep thinking without acting.

Hope you enjoy these as much as I did... Till next week...

*Sometimes, you have to get knocked down lower than you have ever been to stand back up taller than you ever were.

*There are 2 kinds of secrets. The ones we keep from others and the ones we keep from ourselves.

*The people who talk the most nonsense about you, also pays you the most attention.

*Sometimes, when you imagine a perfect guy...you start to realize you've described a person you've known forever.

*Money can't buy happiness but it can buy chocolate, which is close enough.

*I am stronger because I know my weaknesses. I am wise because I know I've been foolish. I laugh because I've known sadness.

*Childhood is like being drunk. Everyone remembers what you did, except you.

*You call it lazy, But I call it selective participation.

*Never chase anyone. A person who truly appreciates you will walk with you and won’t need to be chased.

Basic Make-Up Bag...

As some of you may, or may not know, I am also a Professional Make Up Artist, (MUA), and it is amazing the amount of times I go out with friends or meet them beforehand to get ready and the amount of stuff they carry; no wonder women have back pains and back issues, before they even hit late thirties!

Clothes, shoes and even accessories I can understand, but what I have never managed to digest is why ladies have ‘Make-Up Bags’ that equate hand-luggage! YOU DO NOT NEED IT!!!

So what do you need in your basic Make-Up Bag, without breaking your bank or your back, but sufficient enough to take you through your day, and leaves you prepared in case you need to head off for a night out too. Well, that is exactly what this blog is going to cover, so ladies, (and gents!), take note.

Firstly, the Make-Up Bag itself. It does not need to be massive, but simply medium-sized and something that can easily glide in and out, as needed, your daily handbag.

Something like this is perfect:

Contents of the Make-Up Bag.
You only need about 6-8 basic items in your bag and perhaps 5-7 brushes and it’s more than enough; you don’t need to carry the same amount of make up as a MUA!
The first item you would be a Concealer. This can be used for covering all those heavy eye bags, spots, and even redness and blemishes. Following this would be your Foundation, these are probably the most top two essential items, so I would just going to a professional store and get your face colour matched up, I see so many people wearing the wrong colour and it makes all the difference. Foundation is the one item you should invest in, as this is your face and your skin, so skimp on the other bits and pieces, but not your Foundation.
Now coming onto your eyes. You can simply invest in a natural tones eye palette and this will give you enough colours to create a great day look, as well as the option of building it up, into a glamorous night look too. A great palette, will have all your earthy and natural tones, as well as a few highlighters and one or two dark tones, for the ever-popular smoky looks.

Something like this is perfect:

Along with these, you will need a Mascara, Eyelash Curler Black/Brown Eye Pencil/Kajol. These items will simply just polish and perfect your look, with a nice clean, crisp finish.

Lips coverage is something that varies from one person to another. Here you will have a few options, dependent on your personal preference. You could simply have just a Clear Lip Balm or Vaseline. If you prefer something a little more on that, go for a Tinted Lip Balm, this will give you all the moisture and protection of a normal Clear Lip Balm, but with a litter shimmer or colour, or both! The next step up to that would be a Lipgloss. Again, same as with the Lip Balm, you have the choice of a clear Lipgloss or a colour/tinted/shimmered Lipgloss. A Lipgloss is between a Lip Balm and a Lipstick. So as I said, it’s a personal choice and your would need to play around, to work out what is right for you.

The last and final item in your Make-Up Bag is a blush. Again, it’s a personal choice of whether you want a natural cover or something with a shimmer or a bold blush. I suggest, same as your Concealer and Foundation, visit a professional Make-Up store and get your look and colour matched up, because something could look perfect in your head, but in reality you may end up looking like a clown!

Now, to bring all this together, you will need a set of good brushes. You don’t need to spend millions, buying a thirty-four piece brush set, but again just need some basic ones. Foundation Brush is optional, as there is nothing wrong with applying your Concealer or Foundation, using your fingers, but it’s good to have one, especially if you are on the move. A Blusher Brush, which can double up as a Powder Brush. For the eyes, ideally you want a Blend/Smudge Brush, an Eye Applicator Brush and maybe a Tip Application, for the corners or highlighting the brows. You can again, double up the two brushes for the eyebrows too, if needed. You could also invest in a Liner Brush, but that’s only if you are planning to create liners with gels or shadows, if you use a liquid line, you don’t need a Liner Brush.

That is it! You now have a Full Make-Up Bag, with everything you could possibly need for either a day or night look!

Good luck with creating your perfect Make-Up Bag, and if you need any help, just ask!

Till the next time,

Mucho Pyaar
